Renee Peralta- piano instructor + Owner

Renee started teaching while she was studying Songwriting at Berklee College of Music in 2005.  After graduating with honors, over the last 14 years she has taught hundreds of students, thousands of piano lessons, and performed at innumerable venues. In addition to growing the Color of Music Studio family, Renee continues to teach, write, produce, arrange, and perform on a regular basis.

Renee specializes in a wide variety of music styles. With 13 years of classical training prior to Berklee, Renee combines the best of the classical and jazz worlds to create entertaining lessons that embrace both the joy of creativity gained through jazz studies, as well as the structure of classical piano studies.

Over the last 20 years, Renee has performed live in all kinds of venues, from small and intimate weddings and private parties to churches with over 9000 people.  She’s performed with several bands from Top 40, Rock, R&B/Pop, SADE tribute band, Jazz & Blues, Singer-Songwriter, Gospel, and Salsa. She uses her ample performing experience to give practical performance techniques to her students, in order to help them prepare for recitals and for performing in the real world.

ALi tolga demirtas- multi-instrumentalist

Ali Tolga Demirtaş is a accomplished teacher, composer, music producer and conductor coming all the way from Ankara, Turkey. With 15 years of teaching experience, he is at home with a wide variety of genres, such as Classical music, Jazz, Pop, Latin, Fusion, etc. A talented multi-instrumentalist, he possesses virtuoso-level skills on piano, violin, viola, cello, contrabass, trumpet, trombone, clarinet, saxophone, flute, guitar, and drums. .

His musical education started at home under the tutelage of his father, with whom he shared the stage as a toddler. At age 5 he won first place at the entrance exam for the prestigious Ankara Child Chorus of TRT (Turkey’s largest TV network), graduating in 5 years later. He then went on to excel in several genres in his native Turkey before graduating from the CODARTS Rotterdam - University of the Arts, where he focused on Jazz.

As a music producer he has collaborated with several Turkish luminaries such as the “Queen of Turkish Pop” Sezen Aksu, and celebrated diva Ajda Pekkan, among others. In addition to his expertise in orchestration and music theory, Ali is an expert in Turkish classical music and plays the ney, the oud and the cumbus. An avid jazz improviser, he recently released a piano album titled “Moments.”

Maestro Tolga Demirtas brings a multicultural approach to teaching music. His ample knowledge in a wide variety of genres make him the ideal teacher for those students interested in broadening their horizons and finding joy through diversity.

Sean Makhuli- piano + Guitar instructor

A native of South Carolina, Sean Makhuli earned a piano scholarship to study at Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee. This journey has led him to be a proficient pianist in several styles (jazz, pop, classical, country, R&B, gospel, film music) as well as a songwriter who enjoys helping students as they start their own musical journeys. His experience as a versatile musician encourages to embrace working with any type of artist.

Previous students have praised his kindness and his ability to simplify subjects, both technical and theoretical. Sean’s main goal is for his students to have fun while learning because he believes that fun can be transformed into passion, which is necessary to make music. So whether you want to play the piano mainly to have fun while playing your favorite songs, or if you want to embark in a life-long career in music, Sean can be your ideal guide.

TRISH HOSEIN - VOICE, PIANO, Songwriting

Trish Hosein is a multifaceted singer, songwriter, and musician with a degree from prestigious Berklee College of Music. She has been teaching voice, piano and songwriting for several years, instilling a love and appreciation for music along with a focus on learning how to actually “listen between lines”.

A recording artist in her own right, Trish has been touring the United States and abroad with her project TRISHES. She has played festivals like SXSW, CMW, Pyramid Festival, Tune in Tel Aviv and Women’s Red Rock Festival, and has garnered critical acclaim in the press everywhere from Knoxville, TN to Bangkok, Thailand.

Trish’s teaching style incorporates several musical genres as well as elements of ear training and performance techniques. This approach not only nurtures musical abilities but helps develop overall problem solving strategies, enhances students’ cultural knowledge and build students’ confidence.


JACOB DICK - Drum INSTRUCTOR

Jake Dick is a dynamic, multi-genre drummer and percussionist originally from Cleveland, Ohio. He graduated from Berklee College of Music with a degree in Drum Set Performance and has a rock/fusion sound within a groove context.

Jake is a versatile drummer who prides himself on illustrating his expertise of a genre through experience. Along gigging with local artists in Boston after school, Jake quickly began touring with national and international acts such as Native Construct, Zoya, and Nick Johnston

He has traveled across the world, playing for multiple vocalists, instrumentalists, Broadway shows, West End performances, and Music TV personalities.

Jake currently lives in Los Angeles, where he works as a freelance drummer.

Angie Thu Nguyen - voice + piano + production

Angie Thu Nguyen is a versatile music producer, audio engineer, arranger, vocalist and pianist with a degree from Berklee School of Music. Her work as an arranger and choir director in her native Vietnam led her to work in TV Series, such as Vietnam Got Talent, reaching the finals with the a-capella band she directed.

She also launched a weekly radio show called "Pandatonics" that strived to grow divertisy and inclusion in the local music scene, as well as a monthly series of concerts that featured emerging artists.

Later in Boston she expanded her horizons by also teaching at the BEE School, in addition to continuing her involvement as a Radio DJ at The BIRN, and working as a lighting designer and sound engineer for several live concerts.

She is an active choral, vocal and piano teacher in the greater Los Angeles area and loves working with kids of all ages. While teaching them the basics of reading music and improvisation, she infuses them with the joy of music.

Danmichael Reyes - Piano + ADVANCED MUSIC THEORY + songwriting + PRODUCTION

Danmichael Reyes is a pianist, composer, producer and educator with a Master’s degree in Jazz Keyboard from California Institute of the Arts. As a pianist he’s both classically-trained and experience in Jazz, having studied under musical luminaries like Reggie Workman, Adam Holzman, George Cables and Gerard D’Angelo, among others. As a composer and arranger, Danmichael has arranged for America’s Got Talent finalists, Filipino pop stars, and worked as a mix engineer for Hulu’s original Just Jen.

As a teacher, Danmichael understands each student has a different way to process information, which leads him to adapt each lesson to their needs and work closely to make sure they remain engaged. With this strategy, both teacher and student work together to figure out how to best tackle each project.

While his teaching style is flexible, Danmichael places a high value on technique and tone, specializing in the Taubman Approach. He also preaches the importance of understanding the inner mechanics of music to help students find their own artistic voices.

ANDRÉS SOTO - Office Administrator

Andres Soto is a Costa Rican-born composer, arranger and orchestrator who specializes in classical music and film music. His concert music has been performed by orchestras around the world,  including the National Symphony Orchestra of Costa Rica, the Bohuslav Martinu Philharmonic in Prague, Czech Republic, Orquestra Alaquas in Valencia, Spain, El Paso Youth Symphony in Texas, and the Orquesta Sinfónica de Heredia, among others.

Recently, his piece “Amalgama” for chamber orchestra won the 2019 Honorable Mention at the National Prize in Composition in Costa Rica. His 45 min. piece “Cocorí o la Rosa y el Niño” was one of the most talked-about pieces performed by the National Symphony of Costa Rica of the 2015 season.

An active film composer, his latest feature film was the comedy “He Matado a mi Marido!” by Francisco Lupini, featuring Maria Conchita Alonso. He also worked in the score preparation team for movies like Ocean’s Eight, A Dog’s Purpose, Hail Caesar, and Barbershop 3.

He holds a Masters in Music Composition and Film Scoring from New York University and a B.S. in Theory & Composition from Hofstra University.
